Player Capabilities
Every character in Broken Gate is anatomically a human, you will possess only the capabilities that a human possesses. So no flying around, no sending bad guys flying with ground slams. Although with a well-timed punch you might be able to knock someone off their feet. We think it’s important to impose these restrictions on players as we want to emphasize player ability and planning. As well as the importance of equipment and armour. We want your effort and planning to make the difference in a fight.
Player capabilities also extend to the actions you try to perform, such as sprinting or climbing. If you can jump and grab a ledge, then you can feasibly pull yourself up. You cannot run forever; you can run for a reasonable amount of time before becoming winded. Carrying strength exists, if you want to lift a box, sure, if you want to life a car, better bring your TARGE.
Player Weakness and Weak Points
The players of Broken Gate will have to contend with many of the weaknesses that humans in the real world possess. This means that a bullet to the brain is going to put you down no matter what. We will also include organ shots and such to expand the weak points of the player character. However these weak points can be protected to an extent by wearing armour or clothing.
- Sight affected by environment/lighting.
- Injured limbs will work inefficiently.
- Bleeding out.
Player Health
Players will have a total health pool; this will not be on display but can be extrapolated from the way the player character behaves. At 100% the player character will behave optimally, will be able to sprint for the longest time, have the least weapon sway etc. As the percentage lowers due to injury the player character will begin to feel detrimental effects such as slower sprint speed, obscured vision etc.
Both rapid and slow health regeneration items will exist. The rapid health items will consist of medical shots that the player will be able to use in the heat of combat to give themselves a very substantial boost to their health regeneration for a short time. The slow health items might consist of salves or drinks and will only boost their health regeneration by a small amount but for a longer time.
